An aversion to Switzerland in general and to Switzerland as a financial center in particular. – This aversion (dislike), which is particularly widespread in England, France and Germany, is based on the suspicion that Swiss banks are using unfair means (machinations, racketeering) to lure away customers from other countries. In addition – Swiss institutions are suspected of being at the service of worldwide money laundering and of attracting – drug money and – sums originating from fiscal evasion, defraudation of tax. – However, the fact that the “normal” customer (average consumer; “Joe Public”, “Joe and Jane Lunchbucket”) generally feels far better served at Swiss banks – high degree of customer friendliness, expert and excellently trained staff, innovative financial products – is carefully omitted. Nor does it say that the CHF has appreciated by almost thirty percent against the EUR by the beginning of 2011, making the CHF the world’s most stable currency. – See banking secrecy, money home, gnomes of Zurich, dollar gap, financial island, haven, safer, high finance, private banker, black money, spill-over effect, tax advice, confidentiality, interest island.
