Lower secondary education teachers are teaching staff assigned to pupils in the stage of schooling between primary education and upper secondary education. The indicator covers personnel with active instructional responsibilities and excludes education staff who do not teach. National authorities determine how this level of education and its teaching workforce are defined and measured. Reported figures may consequently differ in scope and are not necessarily directly comparable across countries.
