Exchange price

Pursuant to § 24 BörsG, this is the price for securities in the official market or regulated market determined during exchange hours. For commodities and derivatives, the price determined during exchange hours applies. – The stock exchange price does balance supply and demand. But it does not guarantee that the price found accurately reflects all economically significant influencing factors. Such deviations between mere operational efficiency and basic efficiency are at the same time an expression of possibly considerable misjudgements. In the event of a hasty return to a fundamentally appropriate valuation – when speculative bubbles burst – this can lead to extraordinary market disruptions with far-reaching consequences, as in the case of the tulip crash in the Netherlands in 1637. – See stock bubble, bear, bubble, boom-bust cycle, stock market functions, stock market crash, crash, foreign exchange, computerized, dotcom bubble, domino effect, fair value, financial market shock, graveyard market, real estate bubble, limiting, run, rush to exit, subprime crisis, confidence.
