Mean number of HS6 products per exporter measures the average number of distinct six-digit Harmonized System product categories exported by each exporter in a given country and year. It is calculated from exporter-level customs transactions by counting the HS6 products associated with each exporter and averaging those counts across exporters. The indicator captures the breadth of firms’ export baskets: a higher value generally indicates that exporters sell more product categories on average. It differs from the total number of products exported by a country, since it reflects the product scope of individual exporters rather than aggregate product variety.
