Total electricity output is the aggregate amount of electrical energy produced during a given period, normally reported in gigawatt-hours (GWh). It records actual generation across the power system. The measure differs from installed generating capacity, which describes potential production at a given point, and from electricity consumption, which records energy used by customers.
