Succumbenzgeld and Succumbenzgeld (succumbent money)

Auch in: DE FR TR

In the past, a sum of money paid into court in connection with a penalty or for deposit as part of an amount of recognizance ordered by a court. – In order to prevent appeals aimed at mere protraction of a case (its extension in time), the corresponding amount could be immediately collected from a person sentenced to pay a debt and deposited with the court, even – and especially – if the defendant appealed against the judgment (appealed: transferred the case from a lower to a higher court for a new hearing).
