Auch in: DE FR

Unless otherwise defined, this refers to all forms of contribution by private creditors to the reduction of public debt. In the wake of the Greek crisis and the establishment of bailout packages, this practice came into the European public spotlight. – See mandatory convertible bond, asset levy, forced expropriation. – See ECB Monthly Report of October 2011, pp. 45 ff. (involvement of private creditors poses far-reaching dangers; in footnote 1, definition of the compound term “private sector participation”), Deutsche Bundesbank Monthly Report of January 2014, pp. 52 ff. (one-time private sector participation is justified; problems).
