Freedom of Information Act (IFG)
A law that came into force at the beginning of 2006 that guarantees everyone a right of access to official information vis-à-vis the federal authorities. However, there are so many exceptions to the official confidentiality obligations (legal nondisclosure regulations) that access to information about the activities of the authorities in the financial market in particular must be refused. – See BaFin’s 2006 Annual Report, p. 209 f. Een wet die begin 2006 in werking is getreden en die iedereen het recht op toegang tot officiële informatie ten aanzien van de federale overheid waarborgt. Er zijn echter zoveel uitzonderingen op de officiële geheimhoudingsplicht (wettelijke geheimhoudingsbepalingen) dat de toegang tot informatie over de activiteiten van de autoriteiten op de financiële markt moet worden geweigerd. – Zie Jaarverslag 2006 van BaFin, blz. 209 f.
