A regulation introduced in Germany as part of the foreign exchange control system, under which companies primarily engaged in foreign trade were allowed to freely dispose of a certain amount of foreign exchange granted to them by the foreign exchange authority upon application. These means of payment were intended to enable companies to make purchases quickly and cheaply in foreign currency – especially raw materials for the production of an export good – which ultimately benefited the foreign exchange balance. – See Belassungsquote; Devisenvorleistung, Gegenseitigkeitsgeschäft, WechselkursÜberwachung, Zwangskurs.
