The Authority, which is based in Frankfurt am Main, began its work at the beginning of 2011. Its main tasks are binding supervisory rules, a uniform supervisory culture throughout Europe, peer reviews and the assessment of long-term studies of market developments. By statute, interest groups can comment or provide advice to EIOPA on any topic. Two permanent such interest groups are already established by EIOPA, one for insurance, the other for occupational pensions. — See supervision, European, supervisory culture, Banana Skins Survey, regulatory frenzy, straitjacking. – See BaFin’s 2011 Annual Report, pp. 78 f. (organization of EIOPA; allocation of tasks to individual committees), BaFin’s 2012 Annual Report, pp. 66 f. (uniform rules for supervision presented), BaFin’s 2013 Annual Report, pp. 118 f. (tasks and rights of EIOPA in the wake of Solvency II), and the respective BaFin Annual Report, chapter “International.”
