Cathedral money and cathedraticum (cathedral due, cathedraticum)

Auch in: DE CS DA EL ES FI FR HU ID IT JA LT LV RO RU SL SV UK ZH

A regular – usually annual – contribution of all (Catholic) churches of a diocese to the bishop’s church (cathedral; cathedral), introduced in some countries to this day (a moderate contribution payable annually to a diocesan bishop by the various churches subject to his jurisdiction). – In Germany, its proceeds were usually intended for the salary of the clergy at the bishop’s church. Only in leap years (years whose two end digits are divisible by four, with the exception of the century dates) did the cathedral money flow directly to the bishop for his free use. – See Ablassgeld, Abtrag, Amtsgeld, Annaten, Anzugsgeld, Beichtgeld, Kirchgeld, Memoriengeld, Messegeld, Obvention, Opfergeld, Palliengeld, Prokurationsgeld, Stolgeld, Vokationsgeld.
