Toll surcharge

Auch in: DE FR

In the freight forwarder business, a surcharge that is charged to the contracting party in addition to the carriage charge. The respective amount is usually based on the amount of the current road toll for trucks on freeways (autobahn toll) or, in the case of delivery in inner-city areas, additionally on the city toll levied there. If the delivery also requires the use of toll roads, the customer will also be charged the road user charge. – Because the corresponding user charges are often increased rapidly – for example, the congestion charge (city toll) depending on the fine dust pollution measured in the inner city – a freight forwarder (CH: Spetter; carrier, forwarder) must keep clear of these costs that are difficult to calculate (erratic costs) in order not to incur losses. – See diesel money, manifest money, toll, reference price, demurrage, waiting money.
