Revaluation

Auch in: DE FR

The official reassessment of the comparative value of a currency – upwards – in relation to an underlying benchmark, such as gold, USD, Special Drawing Right or a basket of currencies. – This is always the case when the exchange rate of a currency has been above the previously determined exchange ratio for a longer period of time and is also expected to be above the exchange ratio in the future. – The exchange rate of a currency rises disproportionately for a longer period of time as a result of increasing international demand; the currency in question becomes more expensive. – See devaluation, appreciation pressure, parity, portfolio rebalancing.
