Replacement hedge (cross-hedge)

Futures trading on the commodity exchange does not exist for all products, for example currently not for germanium (germanium: a scarce, metallic, greyish-white element, normally tetravalent, used chiefly in transistors). Therefore, a futures contract for a similar commodity with a similar price movement – such as: Gold – to be chosen for hedging. – See commodity fund, crush spread, purchase price hedge, commodity futures contract.
