Rentier and pensioner (rentier, man of private means)

In older financial terminology, someone who lives off the income from his or her property and especially from an interest-bearing portfolio (someone whose income is from property rents or bond interest and other investments), formerly often called a coupon cutter. – Today often said in reference to a person who receives a pension, and here in particular former employees in the public service (pensioners, retirees; Pensionäre, Pensionisten, in older documents also Quiëszenten). – See coupon, dividend, money people, oldie business, capitalist, pension, polyplusius, power-age financial market, private banking, annuity, funded, silver economy, wealth management.
