Readiness to act
In the context of monetary policy in general, the propensity of a central bank to take certain actions. – As history has shown, public pressure on an independent central bank in no way strengthens its willingness to implement recommendations made to it from outside. Some would even go so far as to argue that any attempt to influence the central bank – especially by politicians and partisan functionaries who are addicted to publicity – reduces its willingness to act. – See Becket effect, code words, ECB minutes, publication, forward guidance, guidance, verbal, money market volatility, open mouth policy, poltergeist.
