With regard to the financial market, this is defined in Section 1 (15) of the German Banking Act (KWG) as a person or company that – holds at least ten percent of the capital or voting rights in another company, either directly or indirectly through one or more subsidiaries (subsidaries) or through a similar relationship, or – can exercise a significant influence over the management of the other company. – Shares that are not intended to serve the company’s own business operations through the establishment of a permanent connection (long-term association) are not to be included in the calculation of the level of shareholding. – See domination, control.
