Monetary habitat
The economic meaning of a monetary unit, such as the USD or the EUR; its “background” in terms of the economic framework, namely: – population (people), – space (area), – science and technics, – economic dispositions and – social organization. – Because today’s paper money has no intrinsic value like the coin of precious metal in the past, it is only functional thanks to its substructure in the form of state, interstate and supranational institutions, which ultimately can only be controlled politically. Money itself is therefore a political issue, and it thus needs to be controlled by a corresponding authority, the central bank. – See flight money, money, moral, haven, safe, institution, capital flow paradox, reserve currency, distress assets, production costs, casino doctrine, substance value, competitiveness.
