Maturity

A term commonly used in financial terminology for the end of a certain period of time, although often criticized by linguists as being linguistically unattractive; this end point in time is then also referred to as the maturity date. – The term “time limitation”, which is also much criticized by linguists, is an unambiguous legal term. According to Section 163 of the German Civil Code (BGB), this is an ancillary provision to a legal transaction which makes its effects dependent on a certain time limit in their commencement or termination. – See term structure.
