Suppliers and buyers on a sub-market have knowledge of all circumstances and conditions on this market. In the ideal situation (the model image that can be imagined to the highest degree of perfection), all circumstances on the sub-market are known down to the last detail to the market participants without any exception, and this is how the term is also used in economic theory. – For some reasons, however, this is actually, practically, impossible to realize in everyday exchange (normal commercial interaction), and not in the financial market anyway. Thus, in the regulations of the supervisory authorities, market transparency also means that the essential facts and circumstances mainly determining an exposure are open, that, in other words, a very high level of information prevails. – See market, perfect, market anomaly, market risk, transparency. – Cf. 2010 Annual Report of BaFin, p. 69 ff. (ongoing measures in the course of market transparency).
