State institutions founded in German states – Prussia, Saxony, Hesse – after 1850 with the task of promoting agriculture through low-interest loans. The funds required for this purpose were raised mainly through bonds in the form of Landeskultur-Rentenscheine (also Landeskultur-Rentenbriefe [Prussia] and Landeskultur-Obligationen [Hesse]; agricultural funded bonds, irrigation bonds). The respective banks were dissolved in 1945. – See Bodenkreditinstitut, ErnteUnterstützungskredit, Flüchtlingssiedlungskredit, Landeskulturkredit, Landschaft, Meliorationskredit, Seehandlung, Siedlungskredit.
