Jubilee action

A festive event aimed at a broad public, i.e. not only customers, with the intention of attracting new customers in this way. – In the case of banks, the provisions of Section 7 of the German Unfair Competition Act (UWG), which apply to all companies, permit such activities to be held in order to celebrate the company’s existence after a period of twenty-five years. However, most institutions keep corresponding appearances within limits or do without them and usually approach the public together on World Savings Day (International Saving Day: a day in the last week of October). – Insofar as smaller institutions have already celebrated their tenth anniversary elaborately and ostentatiously at a (sub)location beyond the limits offered by the UWG, they have so far been asked to pay heavily by associations to watch against unfair practices. – See cobranding, cross-selling potential, cultural sponsoring, loss leader, surreptitious advertising, sponsor, advertising restrictions.
