In Germany, payment to employees of a company that has become insolvent if they are still entitled to remuneration for the preceding three months of employment. Insolvency payments (until the end of 1998: substitute insolvency pay) are paid by the relevant employment agency in accordance with Section 183 of the German Social Code (SGB). The right to insolvency pay is also transferred to any heirs of the beneficiary in accordance with § 183, para. 3 SGB. – See Salary stop.
