Friday, black (black Friday)

Auch in: DE FR

In recent financial history, several striking price falls on the stock exchange each on a Friday, – the first probably on Friday, December 6, 1745 in London in connection with fears of a French invasion, and – a major crash on Friday, October 25, 1929, which at the same time heralded the beginning of a world economic crisis. A series of other price collapses occurred on a Friday each time. – See Behavioural Finance, Friday-13 anomaly, calendar effect, Monday, black, Monday effect, sell-in-May effect, small-cap effect.
