Free float (also referred to in German)

The proportion of shares in a stock corporation that is not held in fixed ownership (the proportion of shares available to purely financial investors). – According to the definition of Deutsche Börse AG, blocks of shares below five percent also count as free float. However, this does not include blocks of shares held by asset managers, capital management companies, trusts and pension companies. – See Dax, secondary placement.
