Foreign exchange trading, computerised forex [= foreign exchange] trading

Transactions in foreign means of payment as a whole, or especially in the currency pair EUR/USD, which are initiated only by appropriately programmed computers. These computers simultaneously and continuously search all trading platforms – foreign exchange exchanges, interbank market in foreign exchange, over-the-counter options – of the whole world around the clock for small price differences (ticks). If necessary, they trigger corresponding buy and sell signals, every fraction of a second, in order to make a profit from the price differences. In the spring of 2011, about fifty percent of the world’s foreign exchange trading occurred this way.- See Algorithmic Trading, Bid-askSpread, Day Trading, High Frequency Trading, Market Trading, Quote Stuffing Tactics, SellPlus Order.
