ECB-wide networks

The Inflation Persistence Network (IPN) started its activities in 2003 with the aim of examining in greater depth the very specific links in the euro area between price and wage developments, on the one hand – wage index clauses exist in some member states – and monetary policy, on the other.
Initial findings were published in a report (№ 46 of the ECB’s Occasional Papers) at the end of December 2004. – The Wage Dynamics Network (WEN) was founded in 2006; it also includes representatives of non-participating EU countries. The research team intends to use various methods – including surveys of companies – to shed more light on the interaction between labor costs and prices in the EU as a whole.
