Dollar confidence

Many investors worldwide have so far fled to the USD in times of crisis. – Although the subprime crisis, which escalated into a global financial crisis in the fall of 2008, originated in the U.S.A., and despite the fact that internationally active banks in the U.S.A. collapsed – such as the investment bank Lehman Brothers in particular – or got into serious difficulties in some cases, investors withdrew their money from emerging markets and also from Europe and bought U.S. government bonds. Contrary to the predictions of most financial experts, therefore, the exchange rate of the EUR against the USD did not rise during the financial crisis, but the opposite occurred. – Obviously, confidence in the U.S. political system is higher, and the expectations attached to it for the U.S. economy are better than is the case vis-à-vis all other countries.
