Body established in 2004 with representatives from the national supervisory authorities of the EU; the secretariat was based in London. The aim of the committee was to determine what needed to be regulated and to align any measures. The focus was on order in the financial market and the protection of the customer. The Committee also advised the EU Commission on all regulatory issues and promoted the consistent implementation of EU directives and the convergence of supervisory practices in the member states. CEBS then evolved into the European Banking Authority in 2011. – See supervision, microprudential, supervision, European, committee mania, banking supervision, European, Banking Supervisory Committee, Consolidated Financial Reporting Framework, stress test. – See BaFin Annual Report 2003, p. 53 f., BaFin Annual Report 2004, p. 47 f.
