Coin conventions
In earlier times, very important for trade in Germany, agreements between the holders of a coin registry on the approximation or mutual recognition of the respective gold and silver coins, also called coin conventions. Such conventions were usually short-lived because the parties involved were constantly changing the coin denomination (standard of alloy: the unit of weight of precious metal per coin). – See monetary science, convention money, coinage commis, coinage union, Latin, coinage union, Scandinavian, numismatography.
