Cash quota

Auch in: DE FR

In Germany, cash accounted for 57.9 percent of the value of transactions in 2009 (according to Deutsche Bundesbank surveys), with cards accounting for the remainder. – If the shares are related to the volume of transactions (to daily purchases), cash leads with 82.5 percent, followed by EC cards (debit card with the ec logo [electronic cash system]; legally a payment card, not a credit card, as is often mistakenly read) with 12 percent and credit cards with 1.4 percent. – In a fairly steady trend, the share of cash payments has been declining by roughly one percent a year since 2000. In 2010, however, cash was still the most frequently used means of payment in Germany, especially for smaller amounts. – See banknote value restriction, cash, cash card, card, payment card.
