A liability that is not covered by collateral. – The collateralization of a loan – by a bank or building society – by way of an entry in the registry of deeds; in contrast to a certified debt, which can be sold like a security. The book debtor is also called chirographar in older literature. – The book-entry securities registered in Germany in the debt register of the federal government. – See intabulation, pledge, debt register claim, public debt.
