Body pawn

The transfer of a person to the creditor as security for a loan. – In addition, if the debt was not paid on the due date (deadline), the debtor or a person close to him – siblings, wife, children – could be handed over to the creditor as a debt-bound slave. This is regulated in detail early on, for example in the Codex Hammurapi: a collection of laws published under King Hammurapis of Babylon around 1750 BC.
