A body of banking supervisory authorities established in 1974 to coordinate banking supervision in the individual member countries. In particular, the aim is to improve supervisory techniques and to ensure the introduction of minimum supervisory standards. However, corresponding decisions are regularly implemented in national law. – The Committee usually meets quarterly at the Bank for International Settlements, where its permanent secretariat is also located. – Cf.
