Bank employees (employees of credit institutions)

Auch in: DE FR

The ECB publishes the number of employees in the euro area financial sector annually on its website and in the Statistics Pocket Book. Since 1998, the number of bank employees in the euro area as a whole has not changed significantly; it stands at 21,000. In Germany, on the other hand, the number of bank employees has declined. – See bank density, bank employees per inhabitant, bank scolding, low performers. – Cf. Deutsche Bundesbank Monthly Report of September 2005, p. 23 (number of employees broken down by bank type), p. 36 (here: personnel expenses since 1997) and the respective September report for current figures.
