Basis point

Auch in: DE FR

Unless otherwise defined, in financial language, one hundredth of one percent, i.e., one basis point = 0.01 percent (one hundredth of 1 percent = 0.01 percent). – When “points” are used in connection with prices, rates, yields, etc., one basis point is usually meant. – Often this designation – i.e. “point” – is criticized because it can lead to misunderstandings (dot, item, spot, pixel). The indication in von Hundert (percent) is always clearer and therefore preferable. – See percentage point, dot.
