In paper money today, a fingernail-sized, transparent opening in the paper or plastic, which consists of a transmissible safety film. If the film is held alternately in front of a light and dark background, it shows different images. This serves to make forgery more difficult. – In old documents, an area-based tax based on the number of windows in a building as the taxable base. This tax led to the number of windows being pushed down as far as possible, i.e. unhealthy building. – In the past, a levy that was also regionally widespread in Germany and that shopkeepers (Krämer; shopkeeper) had to pay. – See banknote management, bridge-Abneysches phenomenon, chip card, counterfeit protection, guilloche, security strip, super notes.
