Unbundling (demerger; decartelization; deconcentration)

The splitting of different production areas in a company – such as: The separation of several business divisions of a diversified group into distinct companies and the distribution of the shares of the new companies to shareholders in return for shares in the parent group. – The transition of a national economy from monopoly control by groups of large businesses, known as cartels, to a free market economy. This change rarely arises by market forces, and is generally the result of regulation by a governing body, as the economic restructuring of Germany after World War II). – In particular, also the breakup of the large German banks into thirty less efficient regional banks ordered by the occupying powers in 1947 after World War II. – See bank decentralization, German, decentralization principle, downsizing, gigabank, octopus, subsidiarity principle, synergy potentials.
