The right of the landowner of a sum payable by the successors of a fee

Former levy which, upon the death of the tenant, the heirs had to pay in cash to the landlord on the basis of the Kurmede (right of the landowner of a sum payable by the successors of a lessee of life). – Originally, the Kurmut was a duty (Fron; soccage), a tribute in kind, in which the best piece of cattle had to be handed over; from there also comes the synonymous designation “Besthauptgeld”.
