Region, dollarised region
A geographic area outside the U.S. in which the U.S. dollar – is officially adopted as the unit of currency, as was the case in Argentina and Ecuador in 2001, or – plays an important role as a secondary currency, as is the case in many places in Latin America. In this case, one also speaks of de facto dollarization (DE FACTO-dollarization). – See Dollarization, Euroization.
