Option, European (European option)

Auch in: DE FR

Call or put option to be exercised exclusively on an agreed final maturity date (expiration date), i.e. on a date determined in advance. However, the tradability on the secondary market – on a stock exchange – is not restricted in principle. – The counterpart to the European option is the American-style option, which can be exercised on any trading day during the entire term up to and including the final maturity date (the holder of an American option can exercise his right at any moment up to and including the expiration date).
