Money sign (money)
Legal secondary term for money or means of payment as a whole. – Ancient forms of intermediate means of exchange: Natural money (primitive money) such as shells (shell coins; pantes = shell coins, coin shells). – The assertion, even today in highly respected textbooks, that money is only a “sign” (sometimes also spoken of “pledge”), is obviously wrong. For the recipient of a contractually agreed amount of money finds himself fully satisfied by the payment (payment; transfer of purchasing power!) and raises no further claims against the payer. – See actus purus principle, validation, money, money purpose, smoothing, numismatography, commodity money, payment, Zahlungshalber, means of payment.
