Money church

Auch in: DE FR

A dubious institution whose leadership allows itself to be endured by the faithful under the pretense of religion; and often promises the more insight into secrets than the individual follower donates (a doubtful religious entity which is solely eager to collect money from its followers under the pretext of mysterious knowledge and secrets, often withheld with the promise that as more money is given more secrets will be revealed). Often famous personalities offer themselves as customer catchers (canvassing), who are paid accordingly or enjoy other benefits. – See money sucker.
