Middle office area (also used in German)
A term that emerged around 2000 for areas of banking activity that cannot be assigned to the front-office area but, on the other hand, can hardly be included in the back-office area. As an example, risk management is typically considered as middle-office. – See actuary, outsourcing, call center, size effects, infighting, cheese factory, one-bank delivery, outsourcing risks, transaction banks, asset management, banking.
