In regulatory language, a financial service provider that – trades professionally, in a planned manner – trades regularly – for its own account – by executing client orders – outside a regulated market or multilateral trading facility. Systematic internalizers can decide whether to give access to their quotes only to retail clients, only to professional clients, or to both. – The Markets in Financial Services Directive also imposes extensive disclosure obligations on such service providers. – Cf. BaFin Annual Report 2006, p. 143 (special rules under the Financial Markets Directive Implementation Act), BaFin Annual Report 2007, p. 153 (disclosure obligations).
