Interbank credit

Unless otherwise defined, intra-group loans within banking groups. Under Basel II, these are to be exempted from capital adequacy requirements. Because the savings banks and Volksbanks are not legally organized as a group – even though they have been assigned a group credit rating by the rating agencies – they are subject to a corresponding capital adequacy requirement for interbank loans. – See Europa-AG, credit, intra-group. – Cf. 2010 Annual Report of BaFin, p. 123 f.
