Healthcare expenditure

Auch in: DE FR

Unless otherwise defined, all expenditures by health insurance funds for the treatment of physical and mental ailments. In 2012, this amounted to almost eleven percent of the gross domestic product in Germany and thus represents a considerable item in monetary circulation (the process of the continuous movement of money as a medium of exchange and payment). Due to aging, health care spending is calculated to increase persistently in the future. – See Demographic hardening, Sickness benefits, Long-term care insurance. – Cf. Deutsche Bundesbank Monthly Report of July 2014, pp. 31 ff. (detailed presentation of health insurance in the financial cycle; many overviews; comparisons of health care spending in selected countries; projections; references).
