EU authority based in Luxembourg with the task of auditing the legality and proper use of the income and expenditure of all EU departments. This includes the audit of the ECB’s budget; the corresponding audit reports are published. The EU administrations complained about – including the ECB – usually make public statements on the audit reports. – At the beginning of 2009, the ECA employed over 700 staff from all EU countries. – See European Anti-Fraud Office, Court of Auditors.
