Auch in: BG CS DA EL ES ET FI HU ID IT LT LV NL PL PT RO RU SK SL SV TR UK

EU authority established in 1999 and based in Brussels to detect possible irregularities in all Community institutions. It has far-reaching powers and, following a ruling by the European Court of Justice in July 2003, may also carry out unannounced audits at the ECB at any time. This makes it possible to exert political pressure on the ECB via OLAF. – See European Court of Auditors.
