An EFTPOS terminal is a merchant-facing device for handling electronic payments at the point of sale. It reads the customer’s payment credentials and submits the transaction either immediately through an authorisation network or later when an offline procedure is used. EFTPOS is short for “electronic funds transfer at point of sale”.
